Celebrating a century of DUX
DUX is gearing up to mark 100 years of craftmanship, innovation and design. To recognise this special anniversary, we are planning a full year of celebrations that will honour the heritage of the past, demonstrate the innovations of the present, and offer a glimpse of what the future has in store.
2026 will represent a major milestone for the DUX and DUXIANA brands. It has been 100 years since Swedish chocolatier Efraim Ljung, inspired by the beds he experienced abroad, began developing his own spring-based mattresses under the DUX name. While he may not have realised it in 1926, Efraim was laying the foundation for what would become a century of sleep innovation and furniture design excellence.
Today, Efraim’s legacy lives on through his great-grandchildren, who oversee the business he started. For four generations, the family has built on his original vision, setting new standards in living well.
“We’re proud to be continuing what has always been a 100% family-owned operation,” says Henrik Ljung, CEO, DUX & DUXIANA. “Four generations of our family have carried forward a singular mission to create ergonomic products that combine technology and style. Today the DUX name is synonymous with quality craftsmanship, iconic furniture, and – above all else – unparalleled comfort.”
Throughout 2026, DUX will pay tribute to 100 years of history, celebrate where we are today, and begin unveiling what’s coming tomorrow. There will be exciting product launches, including all-new collections and some special one-off releases. We will also host a number of memorable events, culminating in a prominent place at 3Days of Design in Copenhagen in June.
The centenary collection
We will kick off the anniversary year with a special series of limited-edition products. This collection embodies the depth of our expertise in both furniture and bed manufacturing, paying tribute to some of the most famous DUX designs of the last 100 years. It draws on inspiration from our past, while also taking advantage of the latest comfort technologies and state-of-the-art production techniques.
As a recognition of the four Ljung generations that have steered DUX, there will be four centenary products in total, with one released every quarter during 2026. Each design will be limited to just 100, individually numbered pieces.
Q1: Alberto

Clean lines and ample storage have made the Alberto Table a living room icon since it first entered production in the 1980s. As part of the centenary collection, we are releasing a special edition of the square Alberto in chrome. For this version, the table’s standard tempered glass top and bottom have been replaced with earthtone terrazzo stone.
Q2: Sam Office

2026 will see the long-awaited return of the Sam Office to our portfolio, starting with a special edition as part of the 100th anniversary celebration. Based on Sam Larsson’s original 1973 design, the desk variant of the Sam chair offers armrests, wheels and easily adjustable height. Our centenary edition is 100% upholstered in olive-tanned leather, including the back support. The all-natural tanning process results in a uniquely soft material with an earthy hue that ages exquisitely over time.
Q3: The DUX Essence

From the very start, DUX has been committed to continuously improving health and wellness through a better sleep experience. Our centenary bed puts the totality of 100 years of innovation into a single product. Using our Sustainable Comfort platform as a base, the DUX Essence takes design inspiration from some of our earliest furniture, with a headboard and other details in oak. As the name suggests, it’s the essence of a perfect night’s sleep.
Q4: Spider Lounge

We introduced the Spider series in the 1980s, and it has been a hallmark of DUX design ever since. To close out our centenary year, we are reviving the Spider Lounge for a limited run. It’s a seat for unmatched relaxation, featuring ten oblong Spider cushions containing the same Pascal springs we use in our beds. This version is a true showpiece, with special-edition upholstery from luxury fabric designer Black Edition.
